PRINCEVILLE — A 64-year-old Indiana man died Tuesday afternoon while ziplining on the north shore.
According to a County press release, Darwin Gilbert had complained of fatigue while taking part in a morning ziplining tour. Gilbert rested for a few minutes then informed tour guides that he was ready to continue.
“After completing the next zipline, Gilbert fell to one knee and then collapsed, apparently unconscious,” the release said.
Rescuers were notified of the incident at about 12:22 p.m.
Kaua‘i firefighters from the Hanalei station were first on the scene and tried to resuscitate Gilbert, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy will be conducted.
