The Kaua‘i Board of Realtors is offering a new type of scholarship this year.
Eleven $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors heading off to pursue further education through a college, university or vocational school.
The Kaua‘i Board of Realtors understands that sometimes in life, circumstances prohibit some from attending educational facilities, a news release states.
Whether that reason is to take care of a child or a family member, or simply because of a lack of resources and funds, Kaua‘i Board of Realtors says it wants to “extend a helping hand and offer something to our community that has not been previously available.”
The application for this scholarship is not as heavily focused on the academic aspects of someone’s achievements, but more on the overall impression a candidate makes in their written narrative and oral interview.
The Kaua‘i Board of Realtor’s 2011 scholarship application is available online at www.kauaiboard.com/forms. Those without Internet access and a printer can call their office at 245-4049 to obtain a copy.
The application deadline is March 30.
