WAILUA — Rescuers aboard Air-1, the county’s new helicopter, rescued a hiker Wednesday evening near Wailua Falls, according to a county press release.
The man had been hiking the trails in the area when he realized he was lost and called for assistance at about 4:30 p.m., the release stated.
Rescuers aboard Air-1 found the hiker at just before 5:45 p.m. and airlifted him to the Lihu‘e Airport. The hiker was not injured.
County spokeswoman Sarah Blane said the man doesn’t live on the island, but she wasn’t able to provide other details about him.
Blane said this was the county helicopter’s third rescue mission.
