As they wait for a new swell to fill in from the northwest on O‘ahu, organizers of Event No. 1 on the International Bodyboarding Association World Tour called a second consecutive lay day at the IBA Pipeline Pro, Wednesday.
The surf has been in the head-high range with a much larger push expected to occur sometime this evening, reports an IBA press release.
“With nine days remaining in the waiting period, we’ve no need to rush into anything,” said IBA World Tour Manager, Terry McKenna. “The forecast for (Wednesday) is as expected. We have everyone on high alert for (Thursday) and we look forward to being able to complete a full day of competition.”
One hundred and twenty eight riders will battle it out for top honours in the blue-ribbon Men’s Grand Slam division. The IBA Pipeline Pro also features Drop Knee, Women’s and Legends divisions.
