LIHU‘E — While last week was quiet in the world of ASP events, the third week of February will be on fire with the first ASP PRIME event on the 2011 calendar unfolding in Brazil, the Hang Loose Pro, states a press release from the Association of Surfing Professionals.

Top seeds include defending event champion American C.J. Hobgood, 32, high-flying Brazilian Jadson Andre, 20, and fellow countryman, 2011 ASP World Tour rookie Alejo Muniz, 20, as well as marquee up-and-comers.

With the ASP World Tour season opening Quiksilver Pro hanging just around the corner, a mass of ASP World Tour talent will be competing at this week’s ASP 4-Star Breaka Burleigh Pro as a warm-up for their ASP Dream Tour campaigns, not to mention tearing into awesome right-hand walls with only three other guys out.
Top competitors will include the high-powered Australian contingent, including defending champion Taj Burrow, 32, Joel Parkinson, 29, Mick Fanning, 29, and Julian Wilson, 22, as well as American charger Brett Simpson, 26, plus many others.
