The Hawai‘i State Junior Golf Association is accepting applications for its 2011 HSJGA season.

Membership is open to any male or female junior golfers who are between the ages of 7 to 18 years old, have not reached their 19th birthday and have not entered college. Prospective members must also demonstrate a basic understanding of the game.
Annual membership fee is $35 per golfer and covers the period from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31. It includes an opportunity to compete in several statewide tournaments, a 2011 Membership Handbook, a 1-year United States Golf Association Junior Membership, college workshops, instructional clinics, rules workshops, the 2010-2011 Rules of Golf book, a bag tag, GHIN handicap donated by the HSGA and the USGA, and participation in the activities and programs of the HSJGA.
Mary Bea Porter-King, president of the HSJGA and the Kaua‘i Junior Golf Association, said the deadline for registration to the Kaua‘i Junior Golf Association is Feb. 15.

As part of the KJGA membership fee, the golfer is automatically a member to the HSJGA, but registration must be done online, states the KJGA website.
“Make new friends, see old friends, be a part of the growing trend in youngsters enjoying the game of golf, today,” Porter-King said in an e-mail. “It’s fun, it’s challenging, it’s rewarding, and anyone can play. Young and old, beginners to advanced, ages 7 to 18 years old.”
One of these programs is the opening of the HSJGA Junior Tour Series for Juniors 14 years old and under.
The JTS will open at the Wailua Golf Course on March 19-20. Entries, accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, are being accepted between Jan. 22 and March 5.
Big Island at the Waimea Country Club is the next stop on March 26-27. Entries for this JTS event are being accepted between Jan. 29 through 5 p.m., March 12.
The third stop in the JTS program is at the Mililani Golf Club on O‘ahu, April 16-17. Entries for this event will open Feb. 12 and will be accepted through 5 p.m., March 26.
The final stop on the JTS is at the Pukalani Country Club on Maui, April 23-24. Entries for this event will open Feb. 19 and will be accepted through 5 p.m., April 2.
