Micah Scovel got some recognition and Mama Leah Scovel wasn’t there. Debbie Lindsey, the Koloa Elementary School principal, called Micah on stage to thank him because Micah’s brother, a freshman at Western Oregon University, sent the school a pennant to be used for the school’s College Day program.

Leila Kobayashi said her daughter used to wear a T-shirt given to her by Jordon Dizon, and she herself was wearing a Buffalo T-shirt. She said College Day makes the students think about college and is an early start to students awareness of higher education.
Kudos to Claire Hirota who was named the Milken Teacher of Promise by Cheryl Shintani. Cheryl (she was helping at the NOAA Discovery Center workshop, Saturday) said there are five Milken teachers on Kaua‘i.
OK, it’s time to go check out the county’s 13 and Under girls basketball girls in Kalaheo.
