Girls interested in establishing a high school water polo team are invited to practice Wednesday from 5:45 to 7 p.m. at the YMCA pool.
Coach Billy Brown of Kaua‘i Water Polo said he will be starting a girls high school team.
“It is my intention to get a lot of support so we can start water polo in the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation,” Brown said in an e-mail. “We are the last island not to have it in our league, so I’m hoping the girls will come out.”
Kaua‘i Water Polo has been hosting adult players and has had participation from some of the youth swimmers on the island, including during the annual Summer Splash event.
Practice will be on Wednesdays from 5:45 to 7 p.m., Brown said.
