Riana Ralston of Team Lihu‘e Girls had a game-high 22 points, Wednesday, but the effort fell short, 34-32 against the Kaua‘i Lady Ballers.
Ralston, playing in the county’s 13 and Under Girls Winter Basketball League at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center, was joined by Motu Taumalolo adding five points in the effort.
Ariel Cummings topped the Kaua‘i Lady Ballers with 17 points in the win, followed by Shai-Anne Abigania adding nine points.
Brandee Burton set the pace for Westside Basketball Girls with 13 points in its 34-19 showing over the Kamikaze in the second game of the double-header.
Tiana Apilado finished with nine points in the win.
Kaelee Esposo topped the Kamikaze effort with 12 points, followed by Ashley Lucas adding three.
Coach Kevin Hanano’s Kamikaze next meets Team Lihu‘e Girls, Saturday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center starting at noon.
The Kaua‘i Lady Ballers take on Kaulupono in the nightcap starting at 1 p.m.
The county’s 13 and Under boys will also be in action at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center starting with the Kaua‘i Ballers taking on Hanakila starting at 9 a.m. followed by Papalina-Blue going up against Team Central 1 at 10 a.m. Papalina-White will meet Team Extreme in an 11 a.m. match to set the stage for the girls’ games.
