Team Central 1, Kaua‘i Ballers and Papalina notched wins as the county’s Boys 13 and Under Winter Basketball League resumed play, Thursday night at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
These were the first games played following a break for the Coach Jimmy Yagi basketball clinic on Jan. 15 and the Martin Luther King holiday, Monday.
Mark Lacierna marked a game-high 21 points to lead Team Central 1 to a 59-36 win over Ho‘ouila in the evening opener. Tyler Fernandez and Kaone Miguel tapped in 13 and 12 points, respectively in the win.
Merrel Kaious topped the Ho‘ouila scoring with 16 points, followed by Arick Yasay and Michael Kaneko finishing with nine and seven points, respectively.
Solomone Manupule topped the Kaua‘i Ballers’ 42-29 victory over Team Central 2 with 14 points, followed by Mosese Fifita adding a dozen marks.
Lester Acojido finished with a game-high 17 points for Team Central 2, followed by Arnolfo Balaan adding five points.
Kalawaia Judd, Jassem Cumlat and Curren Dillberg led the Papalina 52-30 win over the Flyin’ Hawaiians, the trio scoring 15, 14, and 13 points, respectively.
Michael Booth topped the Hawaiians’ effort with eight points, followed by Keali‘i Colipano adding seven and Jonah Howard finishing with six points.
The league continues play Monday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center with three games starting at 6 p.m.
Ho‘ouila takes on Papalina White in the 6 p.m. game, followed by Team Extreme going up against Papalina Blue in the 7 p.m. match. Team Central 1 takes on Team Central 2 in the 8 p.m. finale.
