After working at Hukilau Lanai for many years, Ron and Krissi Miller bought the restaurant last year, and turned the business into an even better one.
Some of the signature items of Hukilau Lanai are the drinks prepared with the homemade infused vodkas that Ron and Krissi come up with.
The “Italian Root Beer” is a sweet mix of Sambuca, root beer and a housemade allspice-infused vodka. The allspice comes from a tree at the Miller’s yard and adds a distinctive contrast to the licorice taste of Sambuca in the drink.
To say it’s delicious is an understatement. Just ask Kaua‘i born-and-raised cocktail waitress Kira Boro.
The hapa beauty will earn an associates degree from Kaua‘i Community College next May. From there she plans to move to O‘ahu to pursue an early education degree.
Too bad for Kaua‘i, which will lose, even if temporarily, a darn good Tahitian dancer and ukulele player.
