Carlos Buhk
Carlos Robert Buhk of Koloa died Dec. 30, 2010, at St. Francis Hospice, Ewa Beach. Formerly of Mountain View, Calif., he was born on May 15, 1939, in Sheboygan, Wis.
He was preceded in death by parents Hubert and Frieda Buhk; brother Gary; and parents-in-law John and Freda Hamano.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lynette Buhk; son, Ryan (Monica) Buhk of Koloa, Kaua‘i; daughter, Laina (Jake) Maniscalco of Sunnyvale, Calif.; grandchildren, Nicholas and Jordan Fregosi, Kendall, Kalei and Makena Buhk; sister-in-law Helen (Joel) Morris of Santa Rosa, Calif.; nephews, John (Denise)Morris, Jay (Adriana) Morris; niece, Joellyn Morris; grandniece, Giselle Morris; grandnephew, Julian Morris; beloved cousin, James (Betty) Fischer of Sheboygan, Wis.; dearest cousin, Elethia Okuno of Koloa; hanai families, Don and Trudy Schoenfeld, Monroe and Esther Richman; and many cousins.

William Reyes Sr.
William Reyes Sr. of Anahola, Kaua‘i died Dec. 26, 2010, at St. Francis Hospice West at age 80. Born on Sept. 30, 1930, in Hanalei, Kaua‘i, he retired from the Pearl Harbor Base Police and the U.S. Postal Service airport branch.
He was preceded in death by wife Agnes K. Reyes; parents Lurline Ornellas and John M. Reyes; brothers Abraham L. Reyes, James K. Reyes, Joseph H. Reyes; and aunt Mary Pauole.
He is survived by sons Wesley (Karen) Yadao, William (Ermine) Reyes Jr., Wendell Reyes, Patrick (Betty Mae) Reyes, Preston (Lena) Reyes, Robert Reyes; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers John (Arlene) Reyes, Solomon (Sandy) Reyes; sisters Henrietta ‘Etta’ Napolis and Helen (Louie) Ellegard.
Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 14, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary; services start at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested.

Edward Nonaka
Edward Tadashi Nonaka of Hanapepe died Jan. 3, 2011, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at age 66. Born on Oct. 27, 1944, in Hanapepe, he was a retired truck driver and owner of E.T. Nonaka and Son Trucking and was employed with Shredco.
He was preceded in death by parents Takao and Chiyoko Nonaka.
He is survived by wife Ethel; daughter Adele (Guy) Yoshimori of Koloa; son Darin (Kristie) Nonaka of O‘ahu; granddaughter Tammie Yoshimori; grandson Mason Yoshimori both of Koloa; brother Allen (Nancy) of Hanapepe, Alvis (Vivian) of California, Harry (Charlene) of O‘ahu, Bert (Wendy) of Hanapepe, Clifford (Cynthia) of Kalaheo; sisters Irene Yoshioka of Hanamaulu, Lynda (Bernard) Makanui of Lawa‘i, Amy (Roy) Sunada of Hanapepe, Janice (Minato) Akiyama of Lihu‘e; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with family at 4 p.m., Friday, Jan. 14, at Salt Pond Beach Park Pavilion; celebration of life services at 5 p.m. Scattering of ashes will be held at a later date.

Clemma Burnz
Clemma L. Burnz of ‘Oma‘o died Dec. 7, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 92. She was born on March 27, 1918 in Topeka, Kansas and was as homemaker.
She is survived by husband Robert H. Burnz; sons Robert J. (Linda), David (Shirlette); daughter Jeanette Cantotay; grandchildren Robert-John (Melissa), Mary-Elizabeth (Richard) Natividad, Isaiah Cantotay of O‘ahu, Kaiwa Burnz of Arizona, Carla (Kimo) Matsushima, Kaina, Kaiea, and Kawai of Kaua‘i; six great-grandchildren; hanai daughter Kathe Leong, hanai grandson Corbin, Quintin and two hanai great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 8, at St. John Episcopal Church in ‘Ele‘ele. Visitation at 10 a.m. with service at 10:30 a.m. and inurnment to follow at church.
William Brede
William ‘Bully’ Andrew Brede III of Anahola, Kaua‘i died Jan. 7, 2011, at Samuel Mahelona Hospital at age 53. Born in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i on Aug. 31, 1957, he was an irrigator for Lihu‘e Plantation for 27 years.
He was preceded in death by mother Juliette N. Brede and brother Gilmath L. Brede.
He is survived by daughters Gardenia (Kalani Inoue) Brede of O‘ahu, Glory and Gladys Brede of O‘ahu; sons Ryan ‘Hoku’ Palacio of Kaua‘i, William ‘Kalani’ Brede of O‘ahu; father William (Helen) Brede Jr. of Kaua‘i; brother Shane (Susan) Brede of Kaua‘i; sisters Deborah Brede of Kaua‘i, Julieann ‘Tweety’ (Gilbert Sr.) Balai of Kaua‘i; step-sisters Helen (Robert) Azevedo of O‘ahu, MaryAlice ‘Momi’ (Francis) Furtado of Kaua‘i, LaVerne (Mark Nobriga) Sa of Kaua‘i, Leona (Robert)McDermott of Kaua‘i; two grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles and cousins.

Neil ‘Bull’ Carlton Apuna Sr. of Anahola died at home on Jan. 10, 2011, at age 48. Born on O‘ahu on March 3, 1962, he was a self-employed drywall taper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Paulita Apuna, and brother, Bobbie Enfield.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn Apuna; six children, Neil (Megan) Apuna, Anakale (Meilani) Apuna, Ali’ipoe (Kelena) Apuna, Anthony (Rachel) Apuna, Daelin Nadarisay, Kolbe Apuna; 10 siblings, Donald (Pam) Kekona, Andrew (Dora Jane) Apuna Sr., Coleen (Ronald) Rivera Sr., Eileen (Charles) Vidinha, Rhonda (George) Tandal, Nathan (Frances) Apuna, Sweetie (Myron) Hamasaki Sr., Bernadette (Joseph) Janiki Sr., Bernadine (Barney) Cypher, Reggie (Gail) Apuna; sister-in-law, Mae Enfield; eight grandchildren, numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Brian Yoshishige died Dec. 8, 2010, at age 47. He was born on May 10, 1963.
He was preceded in death by mother Kathleen Yoshishige and sister Iris Yoshishige.
He is survived by father Takeshi Yoshishige.

Hitcliff Ebinger
Hitcliff ‘Bully’ C. Ebinger of Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i, died Jan. 5, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 69. Born in Lihu’e, Kaua‘i, on Oct. 7, 1941, he was a warehouse worker for Kaua‘i Producers, Inc.
He was preceded in death by parents George and Marie Ebinger, and brother Gilbert Ebinger.
He is survived by wife Elizabeth “Bea” Ebinger; grandson Jon-Alan Apana of Kapa‘a; brothers Hughes (Shirley) Ebinger of Kapa‘a, Keith (Diane) Ebinger of Lihu‘e, Olson Ebinger of Florida; sister Florence Munkacsi of Kapa‘a; step-sons Jonathan (Michelle) Apana, Joseph (Charla) Apana, James (Noelani) Apana III, Jeremiah (Mari) Apana, Joshua (Michelle Acob) Apana; grandchildren Kristy, Darchelle, Jon-Alan, Jeresen, Desiree, David, Kaimi, Kendra, Momo, Shambree, Abigail, Joshy, Kapono, Kawai, Eli-Ray, Ashley, Lindsey, Iokepa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mariano Ramos of Puhi died at home on Jan. 9, 2011, at age 100. Born on April 8, 1910, in the Philippines, he was a retired houseman from Kaua‘i Surf.
He is survived by wife Angelita ‘Angie’ Ramos; very special family friends Bartolome and Carlina Viernes; numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Jan. 15, at Immaculate Conception Church from 8 to 9:45 a.m. where mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Lihu‘e Cemetery.

David Dias Sr. of Hanama‘ulu, Kaua‘i died Jan. 4, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 79. Born on May 12, 1931, in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, he was a crane operator for A&B Properties.
He was preceded in death by sons Robin and Nolan Dias, and grandchildren Malani and Tyson Dias.
He is survived by wife Dolores Dias; sons David Dias Jr., Wendell Dias, Samuel (Melissa) Dias; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Celebration of life will be on Saturday, Jan. 22, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Visitation at 8 a.m. and memorial service at 10 a.m.

Justin Duque
Justin Larry Ikaika Duque of Hanama‘ulu died Jan. 2, 2011, at age 27. Born in Lihu‘e on Oct. 20, 1983, he was a landscaper.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kaimana Larry Dias-Duque; paternal grandmother, Mary Rose Duque; maternal grandfather, Lono K.M. Fu; and nephew, Preston L. Duque.
He is survived by his parents, Larry Duque (Sharon Taboniar) of Hanama‘ulu, Lona Duque (Harry “Blue” Brown) of California; brother, Preston Duque (Jessi Roberts) of Hanama‘ulu; sisters, Larae (Chris) Hughes of Missouri, Jasmine (Kaholo) Duque-Troy of the Big Island; maternal grandmother, Frances Fu of Anahola; hanai mom, Barbara Wilhauck; four nieces, four nephews, numerous aunties, uncles, cousins and special friends.

Sadamu Tasaka of Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i died at Mahelona Hospital on Dec. 31, 2010, at age 96. Born on Aug. 25, 1914, in Koloa, Kaua‘i, he was a carpenter.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
