Tierra Teter and her sister Ember did really well, considering they participated in the first qualifying KIF swim meet before playing KIF JV soccer, Saturday.
The same could be said for Jayme Jacinto and Vakeesha Lagazo who were tied up with basketball Friday night and on the soccer field Saturday.
Tierra, who scored a goal in the Waimea 1-1 tie against Kaua‘i, said we should feature a photo of Nanna Barnkob who is an exchange student from Europe and has never played soccer until coming to Kaua‘i.
Speaking of soccer, it’s really nice to see Arlene Devitt helping Reiko Yoshida coach the Kaua‘i girls. Arlene was a Kapa‘a High and University of Hawai‘i standout, and listening to her coach the girls is a treat by itself.
Mahalo to SKA coach Billy Brown for helping with the results of the KIF swim meet. Tommy Rita said when they built the Waimea pool, the only meters were the water and electric meters so the pool is in yards, not meters.
Kudos to Robert Springer and his Island School ‘ohana on a nice event centered around the fifth grade pancake breakfast, Saturday. Marlo Louis-Medeiros said if she knew Chef Kenny Ishii was going to have bacon (real kine), she would’ve gone.
