Baseball players 13 and over are invited to participate in the Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout, Jan. 29, starting at 1 p.m. at Vidinha Stadium.
Kirk Correa, a Kaua‘i coach, said this is a repeat of last year’s tryouts where two Kaua‘i players were selected, advanced through the state process and are head to Tucson, Ariz., for the 2011 Under Armour Pre-Season All-American game, Jan. 14-16.
Dallas Correa, a St. Louis High School senior catcher and son of Kirk Correa, and Kaimana Perreira-Alquiza, a Waimea High School senior second baseman, were selected during last year’s tryouts.
Baseball Factory’s vision is to guide both players and parents through the college recruiting process and to professionally train players in order to find a school that is the right fit, both academically and athletically, states its website.
Baseball Factory has provided players with the best in tournament competition, instruction and college planning and promotions, states a flier for the tryouts submitted by Correa.
This has taken place since 1994, and in that time, more than 30,000 high school players have been helped by Baseball Factory achieve their dream of playing college baseball. Additionally, Baseball Factory has assisted in attaining $500 million in college scholarships.
From this field, more than 2,500 players have been drafted and more than 270 have advanced to play in the major league, the flier states.
The Jan. 29 tryouts will be held in two sessions: the morning session starting at 9 a.m. is the National Tryout and Premium Video Program, and the 1 p.m. clinic is the National Tryout.
Both programs will include a professional workout where players will take part in an on-field workout where they will perform in front of Baseball Factory scouts who will evaluate them on speed, pitching, hitting, defense and arm strength.
Additionally, players will receive a verbal evaluation over the phone within 72 hours of the tryout, revealing their college potential, suggestions for areas of improvement, and letting them know where they are rated compared to players across the country.
Players participating in the morning Video Program will receive a professionally edited online video showing them performing, a detailed Professional Scout evaluation which has been used by college coaches to build their rosters for the past 16 years, a personal player web page displaying academic information, video footage and Pro Scout evaluation which can be e-mailed to college coaches, scouts or friends.
Players are also included in Baseball Factory’s “Point, Click and Recruit” college coaches online database.
During the past six months, 1,100 college coaches have recruited players through its website at www.baseballfactory.com.
