LIHU‘E — Representatives from The Garden Island newspaper and seven social service agencies joined the women of the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i for the distribution of this year’s Zonta/Garden Island Christmas Fund.
Every year, The Garden Island partners with the club to make Christmas a little brighter for many of our community’s less fortunate. The club contacts the social service agencies and processes the cases, while The Garden Island publishes the stories from Thanksgiving to Christmas encouraging tax-deductible donations to the Christmas Fund from the community.
The donations collected last year fund this year’s program. This year’s Christmas Fund has helped 675 recipients from the following organiztions: Agency on Elderly Affairs, Alu Like, Child and Family Services, Department of Health – Community Service for Developmentally Disabled, Easter Seals, Hale Kipa, Kauai Adult Day Health, Kauai Economic Opportunity Inc., YWCA and Catholic Charities.
Mahalo to the many individuals, businesses and organizations who sent in donations. Without you, there would be no holiday cheer to give!
