KOLOA — Kaua‘i police on Monday said they are unable to positively identify the elderly woman who apparently died early Sunday morning in a house fire in Koloa.
Identification will need to be made either through finger prints or dental records, a county news release states.
The structure fire caused significant damage to the 1,200-square-foot wood, single-family home at 3748 Aloha Place.
The Kaua‘i Fire Department received the call at approximately 2:45 a.m. Units from the Koloa, Kalaheo and Lihu‘e stations responded. The fire was deemed under control at approximately 3:10 a.m., officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire and police departments.
