KOLOA — A structure fire in Koloa early this morning caused significant damage to a home and possibly led to the death of an elderly woman, a county news release states.
At approximately 2:45 a.m., the Kaua‘i Fire Department was called to the blaze at 3748 Aloha Place in Koloa.
Units from the Koloa, Kalaheo and Lihu‘e stations responded to the fire that was fully involved in the 1,200-square-foot wood single-family dwelling. The fire was under control at approximately 3:10 a.m., the release states.
When fire crews entered the structure the body of an elderly female was located.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by both the fire and police departments. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
