A change in the boys soccer state championships has worked its way into the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation scheduling.
Kevin Cram, the Kapa‘a boys soccer coach, said in an e-mail that the JN Automotive Division I and II Boys Soccer 2010 Championships has been moved back two weeks to Feb. 24-26, 2011.
“Because the boys soccer state tournament has been pushed back two weeks, only the girls teams will be playing the second round,” Cram said in the e-mail. “The boys start again in the third round on Jan. 12, 2011. The round the boys miss will be added on after the fourth round is completed.”
On Wednesday, the Kaua‘i JV girls will open the action against Kapa‘a at the New Kapa‘a Town Park stadium starting at 4:30 p.m.
That game will be followed by the varsity girls squaring off starting at 6:30 p.m.
Waimea JV girls will be hosting Island School in an exhibition match at Hanapepe Stadium starting at 4 p.m. on the same date.
“The make-up round for the boys soccer is scheduled for Feb. 2, Feb. 5, and Feb. 12,” Cram said. “This will prevent the boys from having a month off from the end of the season to the start of the (state) playoffs.”
This scheduling change has been confirmed on the KIF Master Schedule L.
