Registration for the 6th annual Hawai‘i Hotel and Lodging Association golf tournament is currently being accepted.
“The tournament was a tremendous success last January and we were able to use the funds raised for a number of very worthwhile programs,” said Doug Sears, tournament chair, in a letter. “The purpose of the tournament will be to continue to provide the association the funds necessary to support the many educational and scholarship-related initiatives which are planned for 2011, and beyond.”
The tournament, playing in a four-person scramble format, will be played Jan. 30 at the recently re-opened Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course with registration starting at 6:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
Maximum handicap for men is 24, and for women, 36. The team handicap will equal 10 percent of the combined handicap of players, and the Golf Committee reserves the right to change handicaps.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place gross team scores with opportunities for golfers to win on Longest Drives for men and women on selected Par 5 holes, a Closest to the Pin on a selected Par 3 hole for men, and a Closest to the Pin on a selected Par 2 hole for women.
Additional premiums will be available during a silent auction which will be available for bidding during registration, continental breakfast, and during the lunch portion of the event.
Some of the items include resort stays, golf certificates, and more with procceds and sponsorships supporting the HHLA, Kaua‘i Chapter Education Programs, Scholarship Funds and other HHLA-related programs.
Registration for the tournament is $440 per team, or $110 per player and includes greens fees, cart, continental breakfast during registration, and lunch at the end of the tournament with food being provided by culinary teams of HHLA member hotels.
Lunch-only fee is $25 for non-golfers who want to share in the excitement.
Sponsorship packages start from $200 for an individual hole sponsorship and range to $1,000 for a Deluxe Lunch Sponsor.
Silent auction prizes and premiums are also being accepted by contacting Jolene Ogle at the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort at jolene.ogle@marriott.com.
There is a deadline of Jan. 21 for all silent auction items to be received.
