The public is invited to a Fun Day, Sunday when the Po‘ipu Kai Tennis Charity Tournament wraps up its Toys for Tots Men’s and Women’s Doubles at the Po‘ipu Kai Tennis Courts.
The tournament’s semifinals and finals for the A, B, and C Divisions for men and women are scheduled starting at 8 a.m. with the Fun Day scheduled for noon.
According to the club’s website, there will be various tennis skills games, food and give-aways for anyone bringing a new and unwrapped toy which will benefit the Toys for Tots program.
“This is open to anyone,” said Krystyna Noe in an e-mail. “It’s not just for tournament players.”
Organizers are asking those planning to attend the Fun Day portion of the weekend to e-mail them at kctennis2009@
hawaiiantel.net so they can better prepare for the event.
The Po‘ipu Kai Tennis Charity Tournament opens Saturday and will conclude with the division finals, Sunday.
Entry fee for players is also a new and unwrapped toy, or $20 per player.
The A Division includes players with 4.0-4.5 ranking, B Division players are 3.5 to 4.0, and C Division players are 3.0-3.5.
The tournament, known as the “Charity Doubles,” have been meeting regularly during the year, its proceeds benefiting local charitable organizations such as the Kaua‘i United Way, Kaua‘i’s volunteer-driven nonprofit organization which has been dedicated to providing for the social service needs of Kaua‘i through various community organizations and agencies.
Noe said this weekend’s event marks the final event for the 2010 calendar year and is sponsored by the Po‘ipu Kai Resort, the Kaua‘i Tennis Association, and the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort and Spa.
