A total of 13 teams registered for the American Cancer Society’s 2011 Relay For Life events during last month’s kickoff festivities at Kukui Grove Center.
At left, Patti Ornellas, sponsorship chair for the Relay For Life at Hanapepe, scheduled for April 30 to May 1, 2011, dances hula to the music of Al Genovia and Fred Aki. The North Shore Relay For Life is July 30 to July 31, 2011, at Waioli Town Park in Hanalei.
A big part of Relay is honoring survivors of cancer, and at the kickoff event all survivors were invited to come forward (above) and share cupcakes with candles, signifying the fact that they were able to celebrate another birthday.
