High school athletes and coaches have an opportunity to showcase some of Hawai‘i and American Samoa athletes when the Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance attends the American Football Coaches Association Conference, Jan. 9-12, 2011 in Dallas, Texas.
In a release from PIAA, it distributed more than 5,000 DVD’s for more than 100 Hawai‘i and Samoan athletes amounting to more than $2.2 million in scholarships and financial aid.
PIAA will be attending the eighth AFCA Conference after securing a grant from the James and Abigail Campbell Family Foundation and has plans to distribute more than 8,500 DVD’s from athletes around Hawai‘i and American Samoa.
More than 4,000 college coaches from more than 1,000 schools across the nation as well as the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA are scheduled to attend this event.
Participation in this event is open to all high school atheles in all sports.
The PIAA release states that college coaches have always accepted video from athletes in other sports to distribute to the appropriate coach at their respective schools.
Deadline for submitting video in time for the AFCA Conference is Dec. 20.
