Marie ‘Leng’ T Hiranaka of Lihu‘e died Nov. 15, 2010, in Honolulu at age 65. Born Sept. 13, 1945, she was the office manager of Lihu‘e Mini Storage.
She is survived by husband Tomoo Hiranaka; son Cline (Renee) Hiranaka; daughter Treena (Season) Servantes Jr.; brothers Venancio “Boy” Tabura Jr., Kevin (Aimee) Tabura; sisters Lourdes Carlos, Sally Wright-Callejo, Melanie Marshall, Tanya Bordenkircher; hanai brother Clifford (Danette) Lee; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A celebration of life will be held at Immaculate Conception Church-Kaua‘i, Monday, Nov. 29; visitation at 8 a.m.; eulogy at 9:45 a.m.; service at 10 a.m.
Borthwick Mortuary Honolulu assisted the family.
Michael Lopez
Michael Lopez of Keaau, Hawai‘i, died Nov. 13, 2010, at Hilo Medical Center at age 70. Born Dec. 18, 1939, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, he was a member of the Nichiren Society of America.
He is preceded in death by father Joseph A. Lopez; mother Adelaide (Ida Pavao) Lopez; brother Joseph A. Lopez Jr.
He is survived by sons Kaipo K. Lopez of Connecticut, Kawelo M. Lopez of Keaau; daughter Momi K. Lopez or Kahului; four children from a previous marriage Joann, Michael and twin sons from Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters Lorraine (Bill) Witmore of Omaha, and Josie Lopez-Andrade of Kaua‘i; three grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held at a later date. Homelani Cremation Services assisted the family.
Dorothy Sarmento
Dorothy Kekupuohikalani Sarmento of Lawa‘i died Nov. 15, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 87. Born on May 30, 1923, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by parents William and Esther Swain.
She is survived by husband Harry Sarmento; daughters Jennifer (Ronald) Gonsalves, Sharon Sarmento, Yvonne (Rodney) Kelly, Debra (Roger) Frago; son Harry (Penny) Sarmento; 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 29, at 9 a.m. at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery Pavilion, Hanapepe.
Family suggests casual attire.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Alfonso Duran
Alfonso S. Duran of Kalaheo died Nov. 12, 2010, at his home at age 67. Born on Oct. 1, 1944, in San Fernando, Calif., he was a retired machinist.
He is survived by daughter Janine of Alta Loma, Calif.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
