Antonio Ispelite Silva, 11 months old, of Kapa‘a, died Oct. 29, 2010, at Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children in Honolulu. He was born on Nov. 25, 2009 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Lihu‘e.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis S. and Emily P. Silva of Kalaheo, and Samiuela Fifita of Kolomotu’a, Tonga.
He is survived by parents Louis C. Sr. and ‘Alisi Silva of Kapa‘a; Grandmother ‘Alisi P. Fifita of Kolomotu’a; sisters Michelle (Molena) Ayers of Kane‘ohe; Delcie (Chris) Okamura of Waimea; Mimosa A. and Carmen E. Fifita of Kolomotu’a; brother Louis C. (Kellin Vea) Silva Jr.; aunts Joyce (Linsey) Carineo of Koloa; Ana (Ian) Otai of Sydney, Australia, and Naule’o Fifita (Ewen Ross) of Christchurch, New Zealand; uncles Gary and Glen Silva of Kalaheo; Iki (Ana) Fifita of Kolomotu’a; nieces Ciane and Hi‘ilei Ayers of Kane‘ohe; Zenia and Zoey Okamura of Waimea; Kanani and Kiani Silva of Kapa‘a; nephew Dylan Ayers of Kane‘ohe; and extended cousins, family and dear friends.
Cremation by Nu‘uanu Memorial Park & Mortuary in Honolulu. A celebration of life will be announced and held at a later date.
Shina Shiraki
Shina Shiraki of Wailua Houselots died Oct. 31, 2010, at home at age 100. Born on Jan. 23, 1910, in ‘Ele‘ele, she was a housewife, babysitter and seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her husband Satoshi Shiraki and son Thomas Mamoru Shiraki.
She is survived by son Tatsuo Steven (Edith) Shiraki of Quincy, Ill.; daughter Evelyn (Donald) Nagamine of Lihu‘e; grandchildren Lorna Nagamine, Donn (Susan) Nagamine, John (Kelly) Shiraki and Anne Shiraki; brother Mitsuo (Kiyoko) Kobayashi of Honolulu; sisters Tsuyako Hamasaki and Sadako (Yutaka) Ikeda, both of Honolulu; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held at a later date. The family requests no koden (monetary donations) and no flowers. Donations may be made to Kaua‘i Hospice.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
John Lucas
John J. Lucas died on Feb. 11, 2010, at his residence in Lihu‘e. He was born on Nov. 15, 1913, and retired from the state of Washington Department of Revenue and served as a photographer on the Ticondaroga during World War I.
He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline B. Lucas.
He is survived by his son John D. Lucas of Olympia, Wash., daughter Mary Lucas of Wainiha, grandson Casey Lucas of Lacey, Wash., and granddaughter Pauline K. Lucas.
A celebration of life will be on Sunday, Nov. 14, at 3:30 p.m. at the home of his daughter in Wainiha, potluck-style. Call 826-6483 for directions. The family suggests casual attire.

Richard Irwin
Richard M. Irwin of Kalaheo died Nov. 1, 2010, at Straub Hospital in Honolulu at the age of 65. Born in Richmond, Va. on June 7, 1945, after 20 years of service in both occupations he retired from the U.S. Navy and the Pacific Missile Range Facility as the manager in the Communications Department.
He is survived by his wife Joye Irwin of Kalaheo; daughter Lisa (Kenneth) Ardanowski of Plano, Texas; son Scott Irwin of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; parents Harold and Jeanette McBride Irwin; sister Nancy Irwin of Woodstock, Ill.; brother-in-law Robert (Cathy) Westman; nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Lihu‘e United Church. The service is at 10 a.m., followed by burial at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. The family requests aloha attire.

Agustina Fernandez
Agustina Rivera Fernandez of Hanama‘ulu died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Nov. 1, 2010, at the age of 87. She was born in Vintar, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on May 2, 1923, she was a homemaker and also retired from Tip Top Café as a pantry helper.
Preceded in death by her husband, Eusebio Fernandez, she is survived by two daughters: A. Nancy (Angel) Acorda of Hanama‘ulu and Ellaine (James Reiter) Fernandez of Honolulu; four grandchildren: Aric Acorda, Aaron Acorda, Aimee-Lea Acorda and Austine Acorda; brother-in-law, Loreto Fernandez of Hanama‘ulu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 27, at Immaculate Conception Church, with visitation at 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Fernandez family with arrangements.
