Lucas “Sammy” Calves of Lihu‘e died Oct. 15, 2010 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 82. Born on July 10, 1928, in Makaweli, he was a computer analyst with Olokele Sugar Company for 42 years.
He was preceded in death by parents Estaciquo and Felicia Fabian Calves, sons Samuel Mark Calves and Lucas John Calves and grandson Samuel Mark Calves Jr.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Simao Calves; daughters Peggy Ayers of Park Hills, Mo., and Salina Calves of Las Vegas; son Matthew Calves of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held by the family.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
