WAINIHA — Kuhio Highway in the vicinity of mile marker 6 in Wainiha will be closed to traffic from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, to allow for the removal of a derelict vehicle, a county news release states.
Both lanes will need to be closed in order for a tow truck to remove the vehicle, which is perched on an embankment roughly 30 feet below the highway, the release states.
Signs notifying the public about the road closure will be posted in the area several days beforehand, and flagmen will be at the scene directing traffic on Tuesday.
During the road closure, only emergency vehicles will be able to pass on the highway.
This project is a joint effort between the county and the state Department of Transportation.
