Iwao Sukisaki
Iwao Sukisaki of ‘Ele‘ele died Oct. 10, 2010, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at age 92. Born Sept. 26, 1918, in Koloa, he was a surveyor with the County of Kaua‘i.
He is survived by wife Chiyono Sukisaki of ‘Ele‘ele; brother James Murashi Sukisaki of Koloa; sisters Shizue Nakata of Koloa, Yoshino Ishii of Koloa, and Patricia (Vernon) Scribner of Lawa‘i; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were private.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Susana Sabala
Susana L. Sabala of Pearl City died Oct. 6, 2010, at age 78. Born May 23, 1932, in Kekaha, Kaua‘i, she retired from Metropolitan Maintenance.
She is survived by husband Joseph Sabala; sons Leonard and Jonathan Sr.; daughter Shelly Espiritu; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother Raymond Hesapene; and hanai sister Dora Tinao.
Visitation is at 9 a.m. with service at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 21, at the Borthwick Mortuary Mauka Chapel in Honolulu. Another visitation is at 8:30 a.m. with Mass to follow at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at St. Theresa Church in Kekaha. Burial to follow at Kekaha Cemetery.
Family suggests casual attire and omit flowers for Honolulu service.
Kikue Hashimoto
Kikue Ogoshi Hashimoto of ‘Oma‘o died Oct. 9, 2010, at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home at age 92. She was born on Sept. 23, 1918, in Makaweil.
She is survived by son Chifton (Sharon) Hashimoto; daughters Katherine (Nelson Sr.) Cayetano, Edith Sakai; grandchildren Sydette (Mark) Hamasaki, Nelson Cayetano Jr., Sean (Pauline) Sakai, Kimbrely Cayetano; great-gradchildren Shana Oshima, Sharla Dela Cruz, Shantell Sakai, Justin Hamasaki, Sheldon Sakai, Gabriel Uemura-Cayetano, great great-grandchild Siani Sakai; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.
Garden Island Mortuary assisted the family.
Jiro Yokoyama
Jiro Yokoyama of Pearly City died at Pali Momi Hospital on Oct. 12, 2010, at age 95. Born June 14, 1915, in Kekaha, Kaua‘i, he was a truck driver for Kekaha Sugar Company.
He is survived by sons Paul (Janet) Yokoyama, Robin (Sharon) Yokoyama and Keryy (Lillian) Yokoyama; daughter Arleen Higa; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Friendship Bible Church, 91-1130 Renton Road in Ewa.
Family requests casual attire and please omit flowers.
