KAPA‘A – A 40-year-old Kapa‘a man was pronounced dead at Wilcox Hospital this afternoon from injuries he sustained after jumping off a Kapa‘a bridge, a county news release states.
Witnesses reported seeing the man leap off the Kapa‘a pedestrian bridge into shallow water near the Kapa‘a Library at around 2:12 p.m. apparently hitting his head.
A bystander dove in and pulled the man from the water, and another person performed CPR on the victim until rescue units arrived.
Police officers and fire fighters from the Kapa‘a station responded to the scene.
The fire fighters continued CPR on the victim until medics arrived.
The man was taken to Wilcox Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
