There were no injuries when a Blue Hawaiian Helicopters shuttle bus plunged into Nawiliwili Stream adjacent to Harbor Mall on Tuesday afternoon. According to an eyewitness, the female driver was trying to parallel park the vehicle, leaned out the window to check her alignment, fell out of it while it was still in gear, and the bus ended up in the stream. There was no one else on board. David Chevalier, CEO of Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, says the driver is a new employee with a CDL license and a passenger endorsement. He says she was parallel parking the van when she backed over a dirt hump, the van started sliding down the grass toward the creek and she jumped out of the vehicle before it entered the water. Chevalier says there is a flat tire, but he is waiting to hear back about the water damage.
