PMRF and cooperative conservation
I am a marine biologist and have been a volunteer for many of the community, nonprofit and governmental organizations that work to help the ocean environment. Call me the eternal optimist, but I believe that there have been significant strides of environmental conservation. I am out on the ocean every day and have seen an increase in the humpback population during winter. Since space is limited, I will address only military involvement, but first a big Mahalo out to all of you who are teaching our children and dedicating time or funds toward a sustainable and green Kaua‘i.
As a NOAA Stranding Response volunteer, I can attest that there is a good communication network between NOAA and the Navy. In 2005, the stranding of a humpback whale calf, was probably the most organized and efficient of any in the history of the state. No cover-up, no conspiracy theory, just good old fashioned “Island Stewardship.”
I read scientific published papers of marine mammal specialists, particularly those involved in “Acoustic Disturbance,” realizing how much is still a mystery about marine mammals. There are dedicated researchers who work tirelessly to quantify, tag and measure whale sounds with underwater hydrophones, they determine reactions by the whales, before, during and after military exercises. Due to the economy, most funding for research has not caught up with the technology. Yet, in the past five years, the U.S. Navy has done more to fund marine mammal research than any other organization. If we work together we CAN make a difference!

Notice to ugly Americans
The essence of Hawai‘i Nei are Her ‘Aina, Kai, Makani, and Ua. Her Soul are Her Kanaka Maoli, and Her Aloha Spirit are Her Keiki O Ka ‘Aina.
Hawai‘i Nei has always welcomed all peoples landing upon Her shores including syphilitic White Sailors, Japanese Bombers, and Ugly American. Fortunately for these vagabonds, She infused into their children, Keiki O Ka ‘Aina, the uncommon sense of fairness and sharing. Today, as a result of Her nurturing, Her Keiki are second to none in the world, including our Black Leader of the free world and President, Barack Obama, our WWII Japanese Hero and most senior U.S. Senator, Daniel Inouye, and the world’s greatest athlete and Olympian, Bryan Clay.
My ancestors, Kanaka Maoli, are Her Soul. Lest history repeats itself, We will never forget nor get over America’s invasion of our country, the over throw of our Queen, the Massie murder and commutation, the lies, false prophets and beliefs. As for me, I eagerly look forward to the day I awake and drink America’s clean water, drive upon her good roads, pay for my Prescription Marijuana via Medicare, cash my Social Security check and buy made in China goods at WalMart, and bask in the safety and protection of the American Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the United States Supreme Court as I celebrate the burning of Old Glory… Ugly Americans deserve no respect, and better pray 24/7… God Bless America… otherwise, He will shake his head and Look Away, Dixie Land!

Hooser for BLNR chair
The people of Kaua‘i lost a great representative when Gary Hooser resigned his state Senate seat to run for lieutenant governor. The Democratic Party lost it’s majority leader, who very effectively worked for all the people of our state. I hope that there will be a role for this outstanding leader in Hawai‘i’s future.
I would like to suggest that Gary Hooser be appointed as the chair of the Board of Land and Natural Resources.
Gary Hooser has been an outstanding advocate for the ‘aina. He has been a consistent champion for the environment. He has supported land and shoreline conservation, preservation of agricultural lands, and public access to our natural treasures for the people of Hawai‘i. He has an impeccable environmental record, and has been endorsed by the Sierra Club and other environmental organizations.
I propose that we begin a campaign for Gary Hooser to be appointed BLNR chair by our future governor, Neil Abercrombie.

White men led Hawaiian overthrow
The Robinsons are so religious. It was this same religious people that came over to Hawai‘i and helped themselves to the Hawaiian people’s land. The great mahele was something the white men made by force with the king at that time, so they could steal the land form the Hawaiians. If these people who are all related in some way, your Sinclairs, Robinsons, Knudsens, Wilcoxes and so on, are all related to the men who imprisoned the queen. If they owned the land legally than why imprison our queen? She saw what was happening when she became queen with the old constitution of Kalakaua who was forced by armed land owners and American soldiers to sign the constitution making it for their benefit, not the Hawaiian people. How is it that no Hawaiian owned prime land, only white men? I am of Hawaiian blood and don’t talk to me about gathering rights because when we try to practice our rights, these land owners cry like babies and have us arrested…
