Fendel Pali “Ding” Oclit of Kapa‘a died Sept. 14, 2010 at Mahelona Hospital at the age of 73. Born on Sept. 29, 1936 in Kona on the Big Island, he was a retired contractor.
Preceded in death by wife Eloise Oclit and sons Fendel Oclit and Kimo Kaneakua, he is survived by sons: Keoua (Laure) Kaneakua, Jimmy Yap, Jonathan (Marlene) Oclit; daughters: Ginger (Chuck) Kaneakua, Donna (Bobby) Ho‘opi‘i and Franque (Brisn) Oclit; and companion Marlin Cummings. He is also survived by a brother, David Sotelo; sisters Lena (Dennis) Rutledge, Terrylnn Sotelo and Loretta Sotelo, 42 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends my visit with the family on Friday, Oct. 8, 2010 at Kapa‘a First Hawaiian Church from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010. Scattering of ashes will be held at noon at the family beach house, 4466 Kukui St., Kapa‘a.
Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Cristeta Delos Santos
Cristeta Butac Delos Santos of Hanama‘ulu died at Straub Clinic & Hospital on Sept. 14, 2010, at the age of 79. She was born in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on July 7, 1931, and retired from the Westin Hotel.
Preceded in death by her husband, Benigno Delos Santos Sr., parents, Cirilo and Cirila Baloloy Butac, brother, Apolonio Butac, and sister, Policarpia Magarro, she is survived by two sons, Benigno “Ben” (Mevliha) Delos Santos Jr. of Bosnia and Billy Delos Santos of Kaua‘i; three daughters: Criscilia (Randall) Schaal of O‘ahu, Normalynn Delos Santos and Adeline “Mona” (Charlie) Balilea; brother Norberto Butac; sisters Isabel Manegdeg, Sirapia Luzano and Erminia Lagundino, all of the Philippines; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Feliciana Butac of Kaua‘i, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church, with visitation from 8 to 9:45 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

James Harris
James Howard Harris of Lihu‘e died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Sept. 28, 2010 at the age of 67. He was born in Columbia, S.C. on Feb. 24, 1943 and was an entrepreneur of bars and restaurants.
Preceded in death by his parents John and Susan Harris and daughter Ana Harris, he is survived by his wife, Rose Harris of Lihu‘e; four children: James “Scott” (Renee) Harris of Nevada, Elizabeth Harris of California, Benjamin Harris of California, Allison Harris of California; hanai son Michael (Judy) Sauer of California; stepdaughter Debra Girald of Lihu‘e; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Violet Ferreira; grandchildren Garrett, Gatlin, DeMarea, Samantha, A.J. and Madison.
Services will be held at a later date.
