Marci Calvillo and Nani Maka are currently point leaders in the motorcycle class at the Garden Isle Racing Association standings.
This Saturday, both ladies will be in the field vying for the title of King or Queen of the Track, bring home the Wally, cash and bragging rights when GIRA hosts the King of the Bikes Shootout at Kaua‘i Raceway Park in Mana.
GIRA officials remind fans that this event is a day race with gates opening 8 a.m. for racers and 9 a.m. for fans and spectators.
Tech inspection starts at 8 a.m. and runs through 11 a.m. Timed trials run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with bracket racing eliminations starting at 2 p.m. and ending at 6 p.m.
In addition to the motorcyclists vying for the King of the Track title, spectators will be able to check out door slammers, dragsters, muscle cars, imports, street, sport compacts and Junior Dragsters piloted by youth between 8 and 18 years old.
Admission is $12 at the gate.
Kaua‘i Raceway Park is located on Kaumuali‘i Hwy, or Hwy 50 past Kekaha town. Racing flags will be strewn at the entrance just past Mile Marker 28. The dirt road toward the beach leads to the track.
