Karma Knudsen
Karma Christensen Knudsen of Koloa died Sept. 21, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 72. Born June 10, 1938, in Provo, Utah, she was a spiritual writer and cattle rancher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Valdemar Knudsen of Koloa.
She is survived by her bothers, Marty, Lynn and Richard Rasmussen; sisters, Evelyn, Elaine and Shawna of Utah; sons, Clint Prescott of Kaua‘i and John Adkins of Koloa; daughters, Lori Prescott of Kaua‘i, Sheryl Prescott and Ronnie Walker of Spokane, Wash., and Annalena (Dewey) Thompson of La Jolla, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Margaret Prescott of Kalaheo; grandchildren, Malia (Gross) Gall, Shane Prescott and Lea Prescott from Kalaheo, Keoni Adkins, Aubry, Zachary and Brandy of Washington, Tiare and Alexa Thompson of La Jolla, Calif.; great-grandsons, Nathan and Noah Gall of Kalaheo; and numerous nieces and nephews of Utah.
A celebration of her life for friends and relatives will be held on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kalaheo where services will begin at 12:30 p.m. The family requests casual attire be worn. A potluck and memorial celebration will be held at Po‘ipu Beach Park after the church service from 2:30 to sunset for family and friends.

Bernardo Tadeo
Bernardo Combes “Andoy” Tadeo of Kaumakani died Sept. 15, 2010, at The Queens Medical Center on O‘ahu at age 81. Born Jan. 14, 1928, in Alcala Pangasinan, Philippines, he was a self-employed farmer.
He was preceded in death by Nicomedes Tadeo.
He is survived by wife Pacita Tadeo; sons Billy (Baby) Tadeo, Mariano (Elvira) Tadeo, Mr. and Mrs. Joven Tadeo; daughters Meling (Celso) Cuaresma, Marivic (Gilberto) Corpuz, Lolita (Jamies) Moniz; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life is Friday, Oct. 1, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary chapel, with visitation at 5:30 p.m. and service at 6 p.m.
The family suggests casual attire. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Peggy Basuel
Peggy Alao Basuel of Hanama‘ulu died peacefully at home on Sept. 23, 2010, at age 62. Born Sept. 3, 1948, in Lihu‘e, she was employed by Puakea Golf Course as a waitress.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Rosella Alao.
She is survived by her daughter, Adela (Jon) Basuel of Oregon; grandson, Jaeden Victor-Basuel; brothers, Dennis Alao of Lihu‘e, Larry (Penni) Alao of California, Rudy (Marilyn) Alao of Kalaheo, Eric (Jeri) Alao of O‘ahu, Quintin (Nicole) Alao of Lihu‘e, Gaivin (Gemma) Alao of Lihu‘e, and Vince (Essie) Alao of Lihu‘e; sisters, Lydia (John) Schornack of O‘ahu, Rena (Bleu) Ulanday of Lihu‘e, Janise (Kevin) Gusman of O‘ahu, Norma Alao of Lihu‘e, Zelda (Nolan) Alvarado of O‘ahu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 2, at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 8 to 9: 45 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Alao-Basuel family with arrangements.
Tatsuo Tamura
Tatsuo “It” Tamura of Kilauea died Sept. 21, 2010 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 94. Born July 23, 1916 in Kilauea, he was a retired senior panman with Kilauea Sugar.
Preceded in death by his daughter Frances Yamamoto, parents Yoshigoro and Misu Tamura, brothers Nobuyoshi Tamura, Tetsuo “Tika” Tamura and Charles Tamura; and sister Miyako Takenaka, he is survived by his wife Itsuko Tamura; son Lane Tamura; daughters Vicky (Fred) Wong of Tennessee, Gwen Tamura of Kilauea; grandchildren Lori (John) Breit of Illinois, Jon (Jo) Wong of Nevada, Lyndsy Tamura of California, Lance Tamura and Levi Tamura of Kilauea; great-grandchildren Samantha Breit, Carolyn-Paige Breit, Gracie Wong; sisters Michie Yonekura of O‘ahu, Masayo Yoshihara and Chieko Ota of Kapa‘a; sisters-in-law Eleanor Tamura, Elaine Tamura; numerous nieces and nephews.
