Registration and sponsorships for the 6th Annual Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital Golf Tournaments are currently being accepted, said Steve Kline, the occupational therapist at KVMH and tournament chair.
“We are looking for donations from the community to offset some of the prize monies or gifts that will be given at the tournament,” Kline said in an e-mail. “Monetary donations can be in the form of major sponsorship levels which include “Gold Plus” for $1,000 or more, “Gold” for $500, “Silver” for $300-$500, and “Bronze” hole sponsors for $100-$300.”
Each donor will receive a sign at a designated hole on the course, as well as recognition in the golf bulletin. Door prizes are always welcomed, Kline said.
“This year, the Foundation is working to raise funds for new gurneys for the KVMH emergency room, or a new Cooling cooking system for its dietary department,” Kline said in an e-mail. “We are working to expand the emergency room and possibly other departments within the hospital.”
This year’s tournament will take place Oct. 30 at the Kaua‘i Lagoons Golf Club and will have a Halloween theme with a free mulligan being awarded to a golfer who wears a decorated Halloween hat.
A prize for the best decorated golf bag will also be awarded and donations will be accepted for a grand prize drawing.
Tournament format is a 2-person scramble with 20 percent of combined handicap. The maximum handicap for men is 26 and for women, 36. Registration starts at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
Mulligans are available at $5 each with a maximum of three per person, and a Closest-to-the-pin contest on all par 3s is available for $10.
Registration fee is $100 and includes green fees, lunch, cart and awards.
Registration and donation forms are available for download at www.handtherapykauai.com with special prizes being awarded for Early Bird entries submitted by Oct. 16. Deadline for registration is Oct. 23.
