LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Planning & Action Alliance has developed an online Directory of Community Organizations.
The KPAA website www.kauainetwork.org/directory is where the directory is located, designed to be a handy reference for the community to find information on available services on the island, a KPAA press release states.
The directory is a searchable database providing information on Kaua‘i nonprofit and community-based organizations.
It enables the public and agencies to find appropriate services to meet their needs or the needs of their clients.
It is also designed to facilitate networking among community organizations, nonprofits, businesses, government agencies and individuals, to help them work together in mutually beneficial ways.
“For many nonprofits, especially small ones, it can be challenging to get the word out about your organization and its services,” says Diane Zachary, KPAA president and chief executive officer.
“The online directory is a free, easy way for groups to let the public know what they do and to network with one another.”
Users will be able to search for nonprofit and community organizations by name, type of service, geographic area and other keyword criteria to locate programs of interest.
The directory has links to home pages of those organizations with websites, and can also be a source to assist individuals looking for volunteer opportunities and causes to donate to, she said.
KPAA is encouraging all new and established community groups and nonprofits not yet included in the directory to visit the website to add their listings.
There is no fee to be listed but organizations must serve the island of Kaua‘i and be not-for-profit.
“We hope to have all nonprofits and community groups listed in the directory to benefit the entire island community,” said Zachary.
Contact KPAA at 632-2005 or e-mail kpaa@kauainetwork.org for more information.
KPAA is a nonprofit membership organization that serves as a neutral convener, providing a forum to the community to develop and implement effective solutions to issues that matter to Kaua‘i.
