Seattle visitor drowns at Wailua Falls

LIHU‘E — A 25-year-old man from Seattle apparently drowned at Wailua Falls on Sunday afternoon, county sources said. The man had been swimming at the falls with others when he became separated from the group, a county press release states.

The man had been swimming at the falls with others when he became separated from the group, a county press release states.

Upon discovering that the man was missing, members of his party notified authorities.

Kaua‘i Fire Department rescue specialists and Lihu‘e firefighters responded, along with Air 1 from Inter-Island Helicopters, officials said.

The man was found unresponsive at approximately 2:15 p.m. Sunday at the base of the falls.
