LIHU‘E — The first contest of the 2010 Hawai‘i Surfing Federation Kaua‘i season went off at PK’s on Sept. 11-12, with Gavin Klein taking first place in the Open Men’s division.
Klein made the final with Chattson Barrett, Jesse Guglielmana and Luke Hitchcock rounding out the top four places, respectively.
Tatiana Weston-Webb added some more hardware to her growing trophy display as she won both the Girls 14-15 and 16-17 divisions. In the 14-15 bracket, Mainei Kinimaka, Shania Weiss and Maluhia Kinimaka took the res of the top four spots.
Kiana Fores, Jennifer Leon and Maluhia Kinimaka made the final four in the 16-17 division.
The high quality in the 4-A Open division ended with Aaron Swanson taking first, while Gavin Gillette grabbed second, Ka‘oli Kahokuloa took third and Tyler Newton was fourth.
Lianna Patey and Sunny Patey took first and third places, respectively, in the Girls Longboard 17-Under division, while Weston-Webb grabbed second place. Natalia Smith was fourth.
Ka‘oli Kahokuloa took first place in the Boys 14-15 division, outpointing Hitchcock, Tabin Shamblin and Daniel Carter in the final.
Roy Carvalho was the winner in the Juniors 16-17 division, while Christian Graham, Guglielmana and Shamblin placed second through fourth.
Mainei Kinimaka and Sunny Patey took first and second, respectively, in the Girls 13-Under category.
Boys 12-13 was won by Lucas Angulo, as Dylan Lehmann, Carter and Hunter Cabral also placed in the final.
The Menehune division was won by Ryder Guest, with Kai McIntyre coming in second, Sasha Rovinsky third and Elijah Fox taking fourth.
The Men’s Senior 25-Over division went to Miguel Graham in first, followed by Les Tabuchi, Hans Schaffer and Richard Patey.
Graham also was victorious in the Longboard Open division, with Richard Patey in second, Klein taking third and Christian Potter claiming fourth.
Jordon Deason won the Boys 14-Under Bodyboarding division, followed by Eli Duar, Carter in third and La‘akea Aikau in fourth.
In the Junior 15-17 Bodyboard division, Alex Brown was the winner, with Storm Magsanay, Dylan Snyder and Kainoa French rounding out the top four.
The Stand-Up Paddle Open title went to Leleo Kinimaka. Kalani Vierra finished second, with Kelly Hunt in third and Matt Ives in fourth.
Darlene Dubray won the SUP Women’s division.
The season’s second contest is set to go off on Nov. 6 at Pinetrees.
