Harry Higashi
Harry Y. Higashi of Lihu‘e died Sept. 13, 2010, at age 79 at his home. Born on June 14, 1931, on Kaua‘i, he worked at Avis Rent A Car and was a supervisor retired from Lihu‘e Plantation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sakichi and Kiku Higashi; son, Boyd Higashi; grandson, Lambert “Kela” Alapa‘i; and brother, Masayuki Higashi.
He is survived by wife Patricia “Pat” Higashi of Lihu‘e; sons Harry Higashi Jr. of Hanama‘ulu and Buddy Higashi of Lihu‘e; daughters Lynn Lee of Honolulu, Gail (Bryan) Chun of Honolulu, Karen (Lambert) Alapa‘i of Anahola and Amanda Higashi of Honolulu; brothers Yukio (Olinda) Higashi, David Higashi and Kenji (Misa) Higashi; sisters Edith Higashi and Peggy (Leslie) Yaka; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, Sept. 19, at Lihu‘e Hongwanji Mission from 3 p.m.; services start at 4 p.m.

Brenda Martin
Brenda K.C. Martin of Kapa‘a died Sept. 13, 2010, at her home at age 45. Born Oct. 18, 1964, in Hilo, she was a senior account clerk with the County of Kaua‘i.
She is survived by husband Edson; daughter Bree; parents Christian (Connie) Chang of Lihu‘e; brothers Sonny Chang, Koko Chang and Kevin Chang, all of Lihu‘e; sisters Verna (Donald “Moki”) Okami and Tanya (Ferdinand) Dosono, both of Lihu‘e; father-in-law Edward Martin; mother-in-law Wendalen Gonzalez; grandma Laura Martin; aunty Sylvia Bertleman; brother-in-law Tony Gonzalez; sister-in-law Dawn Bridgeman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, at Breath of Life in the Lihu‘e’s Rice Shopping Center; service at 10 a.m.
The family suggests casual attire.

Mildred Miyashiro
Mildred Masae Miyashiro died peacefully at her ‘Ele‘ele home, surrounded by family and friends, on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at age 81.
Born in ‘Ewa, O‘ahu, on Nov. 27, 1928, she was a devoted wife and mother, accomplished gardener and seamstress, active member of Kaua‘i Bible Church and dear friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her husband Yonemichi, parents Genrokuro and Matsu Tamashiro, brothers Stanley and Ernest and sister June Kobashigawa.
She is survived by children Daniel (Patricia) Miyashiro of Mililani, O‘ahu, Donna (Calvin) Umetsu of ‘Ele‘ele, Linda (Gary) Eger of Kihei, Maui, Wesley Miyashiro of Honolulu, and Glori (Jeffry) Kaluna of Seattle, Wash.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters Hilda Sickles of Denver, Colo., Grace (Paul) Tychsen of Seattle, Wash., and Carol (Harry) Koshi of Los Angeles, Calif.; brother Norman (Charlotte) Tamashiro of Las Vegas, Nevada, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, Sept. 20, at Kaua‘i Bible Church in ‘Oma‘o, beginning at 3 p.m., with service to follow at 4 p.m.
Aloha attire is suggested by the family, which also requests that cut flowers from backyard gardens be brought to the service to adorn the sanctuary.
Private inurnment at Punchbowl will take place at a later date.

Mae Andrade
Mae Rapozo Andrade of Kalaheo died on Sept. 16, 2010, at age 89 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Born on June 30, 1921 in Hanama‘ulu, she was a housewife.
She is survived by husband Manuel Andrade; daughters Joyce (Anthony) Silva, Patricia (Howard) Naleimaile, Loretta (Ronald) Blackstad; sons Manuel (Phyllis) Andrade; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services are Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Holy Cross Church, with visitation at 9 a.m. and Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m.; burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary in Koloa.
Michael Edwards
Michael Craig Edwards of Princeville died Sept. 1, 2010, at age 60. Born in Long Beach, Calif., he was a chef at Hanalei Bay Resort.
He was preceded in death by father Jack Edwards, grandmother Faye Starkey and daughters Jane Autumn Jane Marie.
He is survived by mother Jane Caskey, son Dustin Edwards, brother Danny (Peg) Edwards and numerous friends.

Guillermo Domingo
Guillermo Garo “Gim” Domingo of Kilauea died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Sept. 13, 2010, at age 75. Born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Feb. 6, 1935, she retired as a condominium maintenance person with Sealodge.
He is survived by his wife, Pacita Domingo of Kilauea; son, Robert (Nora) Domingo of Kilauea; daughter, Tessie (Ricardo) Cabalona of Kilauea; sister, Vicenta Lazaro of the Philippines; brothers, Catalino Domingo of Kilauea, Andres Domingo of Puhi; five grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, Sept. 20, at St. Sylvester’s Church, with viewing from 8 to 9:45 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow.

Filomena Ancheta Ganir of Kapa‘a died Aug. 29, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 87. Born in Slosona, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on Feb. 18, 1923, she retired from The Bull Shed as a dishwasher.
She was preceded in death by husband Tomas Ganir Sr.; sons Saturnino Ganir and Tony Ganir; and daughter Lucena Ganir.
She is survived by nine children: Teresita Aguilar of Atlanta, Ga., Alfredo (Regina) Ganir of Wailua Homesteads, Anastacia (Fermin) Acob-Pascua of Wailua Homesteads, Wayne Ganir of Kona, Perlita Agtunong of Honolulu, Justino (Femme) Ganir of Kapa‘a, Josie Ganir of Washington, Tomas (Susan) Ganir Jr. of Wailua Houselots and Elpie Ganir of Kona; sisters Purificacion Guerra and Elena Ganal of the Philippines; 31 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A wake service will be from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 24, at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall. Visitation is Saturday, Sept. 25, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 to 9:45 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kalapaki Bay Memorial Park.
