Loving on America
Enough is enough
This is to all the pet owners on Kaua‘i who can no longer let their dogs run around and play at a park or at the beach. Remember when lots of dogs could play at the beach and there was never a fight? Now they have to be on a 6 foot leash. They can’t run and play in their own yards for fear of a loose dog attacking them. You have to get a fence to protect your dogs and children from loose dogs. And isn’t it always special when your dog is in your yard and other dogs are digging through your trash and getting your dog riled up. How about when someone gets bitten at the beach park by someone else’s dog?
And this is also to all the people who have been bitten by loose dogs, chased by them, cornered and terrified by them, had them destroy your garbage, and barked all night and all day. Or did you have to get a fence to keep loose dogs out of your yard, at your expense. How does it feel to not feel safe in your own yard? Wait and see the feeling you get when you find your wife and children cornered by these dogs in your own yard.
Kaua‘i people are different, we don’t like to complain. We like live and let live. But times have changed here and kindness and courtesy are now replaced with rudeness and arrogance. We all have different ideas of what is right and wrong. But on this subject, let us put our different opinions aside, for there is another- the real enemy of the people of Kaua‘i: the irresponsible pet owners. I would say that 97 percent of Kaua‘i people with pets are responsible pet owners. The 3 percent are the people who don’t care and don’t plan on doing anything to be responsible for their pets. I hear excuses like “dogs bark”; well, most pet owners train their dogs to bark at the right time, not all the time. How about the “my dog got away from me again” every day at 7 a.m. and uses your front yard as their toilet.
There are more of us than there are of them. Let’s stop these bullies from making almost all of Kaua‘i miserable. I hear “why should your dog not be able to bark all night? Duh! Because it is rude and disrespectful of your neighbors. Most people see that, but the irresponsible pet owners seem to be oblivious to it, claiming ignorance, even when they have been told 30 times. I say, if you want to claim ignorance, it should cost you. Face it; it is just laziness on the part of the pet owner.
We have been told to call the humane society and file a complaint, but then you get to go to court with the irresponsible pet owner. Not only does he have to take off work, but so do you. That sound fair to you? Or you could call the police if a dog is loose but the police need to see and contain the dog. They can’t do anything if they don’t see the dog. The humane society can only educate the pet owner about the leash law if they don’t see the dog loose, and if the dog is loose they may try to catch them.
It has been suggested to call the mayor and our county council members and tell them to make some serious rules — like no barking for 30 minutes or more and if proven your dog is loose, fine them big. We know it can be done, other island have had these laws in effect for years, so it already set up, all we need to do is copy what they did. It is not rocket science. And then maybe in the future, these people will be more responsible. Remember these laws are mostly for the 3 percent rude irresponsible pet owners. But we need to enforce them. This issue needs to be addressed now while we have the attention of the politicians who are running for office, and not after November elections. I would think that 97 percent of the community on a politician’s side is better than 3 percent.
I don’t care if you are a dog person, cat person, horse person, or don’t even want pets, enough is enough. This will make it safer for the good pet owner and his pets and it will also help non-pet owners to breathe a little better knowing they can walk around safely, and maybe then we can all get along. Perhaps our mayor and county council will see fit to do something before the elections. Remember there are more good pet owners out there than bad, but we need to work together to get rid of these bullies. Call the mayor at 241-4900 or the county council and voice your opinion. Enough is enough. If people start being punished for their animal’s behavior, maybe, just maybe others will be responsible for their pets.

Dangers of Botox for Kaua‘i residents
Botox is paying out $600 million in claims this month. Botox is, after plutonium, the most potent poison known to man.
Many deaths have been blamed on Botox and lawsuits have been filed as a consequence.
I didn’t know that until I went to a Kilauea clinic and a doctor talked me into a shot of Botox for my frown line.
As soon as I went home I felt sick. The next day I was horrified to see my whole forehead had fallen and slipped down my face. Today it has only gotten worse.
Kaua‘i residents — Don’t use Botox please.

Loving on America
Sept. 11, 2010… On this memorable day it is hard to fathom something. Why are Americans so against America?
If you love other countries so much, move there. Plain and simple.
Hawai‘i would be a horrible place to live if the U.S.A. didn’t save our land.
