Kudos to the KVMH staff on a great job with the beach outing to Salt Pond Beach Park, Thursday. Major Victor Aguilar had 22 of his cadets on hand, including Merly Pereira whose great-grandmother is a KVMH resident and Amber Duldulao who has both grandparents at KVMH and her mom is a nurse there as well.
Liz said they got some help from Josie Pablo of Mahelona Hospital, who loaned them the special beach wheelchairs and even sent some of the Mahelona residents to have fun with the KVMH residents.
Jason Ornellas had some of the Kaua‘i Fire Department recruits helping, but was more worried about the tonkatsu the recruits were going to prepare.
Charlie Ortiz had some of the West Kaua‘i Lions Club members helping, and was thrilled when Aunty Bev Muraoka and Laola Rapozo showed up to serenade everyone.
OK, ‘nuff said…get to catch an hour of UH football (go, Warriors!) and then, it’s off to KIF.
