KAPA‘A — Larry and Elaine LaSota of Profile Productions were pleasantly surprised with their latest award.
Profile Productions, a video production company owned and operated by the pair, was announced as a 2010 winner in “The Knot Best of Weddings,” a special section in “The Knot” magazine and on “Weddings from The Knot,” one of the top wedding resources trusted by brides.
“It’s truly amazing for us to be selected by the brides,” Larry said. “We do not normally enter contests, so it was quite a surprise for us when ‘The Knot’ called us to tell us their brides pricked Profile Video Productions for the Best of Weddings 2010. It’s gratifying to know that when you go the extra mile, it pays off.”
The LaSotas are no stranger to awards, having been named “Best Wedding Videography on Kaua‘i” by the United States Local Small Business Association in 2008 and 2009.
“We’ve really worked hard on producing the absolute highest quality work,” Larry said. “Giving our brides more than they could imagine is our goal. The second half of this year has been especially rewarding.”
Larry and Elaine both have extensive careers in the television industry in both New York and Hollywood. Their combined 40 years in the “big leagues” has given them the experience on how to be ahead of the game when it comes to using the latest technologies in their work which takes them to all points of Kaua‘i, most notably Po‘ipu, or the North Shore.
While in Hollywood, Larry won an Emmy Award for Sound Mixing and was nominated four other times while working on such shows as The Merv Griffen Show, Lucy, Family Ties, Alice, Golden Girls, Designing Women, and most of the award presentations such as the Grammy Awards, the Emmys, and the Academy Awards.
Elaine added to her portfolio as an actress in commercials, moving behind the camera and working in the production of shows such as Dallas, The Waltons and Police Story. She also served a stint as a locations manager for Columbia Pictures.
That combined experience served to launch the LaSotas into an arena outside of wedding services where in 2009, they were approached by several Kaua‘i businesses to produce a diverse range of productions.
A local dentist received a patient presentation piece created by Profile Productions. The couple also worked on two yoga instructional and training video presentations and a video press kit for a local author that was seen in the major television markets and at the Cannes Film Festival.
These accomplishments add to the award case of the local video production company, including the acceptance of a Telly, The Videographer Award and AVA, or audio/visual award. They also got acknowledgement from the Wedding and Event Videographer’s Association for their wedding work.
Profile Video Productions was started in Hollywood in 1990 and moved its operations to Kaua‘i in 2000 when the couple moved here.
“We hear from our happy couples all the time and know they love their wedding day movies,” Elaine said. “But to get a national award and know it was brides picking us on their own, wow!”
Larry said “The Knot” is the nation’s leading wedding resource, reaching more than a million engaged couples each year through its website. “The Knot Best of Weddings 2010” provides a “by brides, for brides” guide to the top wedding professionals across the country.
