Tillie Miral Veniegas of Lihu‘e died Aug. 23, 2010, at her residence at age 88. Born on April 14, 1922, in the Philippines, she was a foster grandparent.
She was preceded in death by daughters Esther Uhrig and Pearl Lydia Veniegas. She is survived by sons Dennis (Ruth) Sevilla of California, Rudy (Yvonne) Lopez of ‘Ewa Beach, and Lelly (Maureen) Veniegas of O‘ahu; daughters Arlyn Story of Illinois, Sandra Sevilla of California, Lee (Richard) Argus of South Carolina, Janice (John) Leota of Kapa‘a and Noreen (Miles) Ajifu of Colorado; 24 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation at 9 a.m., service at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 3, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa.
The family suggests casual or aloha attire. Flowers will be accepted, though lei are preferred.

Praxedes Duran
Praxedes Pastor Duran of Hanama‘ulu died Aug. 24, 2010, at Garden Isle Health Care at age 93. Born in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on July 17, 1917, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Francisco Duran and son Romie Duran.
She is survived by five children, Art (Shanna) Duran and Bessie Garbo, both of Honolulu, Isabelo (Elisa) Duran, Mely (Abelardo) Iloreta and Avelina (Herbert) Semana, all of Kapa‘a; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister Alejandra Pastor of the Philippines; and numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, at Immaculate Conception Church, with viewing from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Duran family with arrangements.
Cornelio Casabar Jr.
Cornelio “Mosso” Casabar Jr. died on Aug. 22, 2010, at St. Francis West Hospice Home in Honolulu at age 67. He was retired from Getty Oil Company and Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles, after completing his term with the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his mother Sophie Taroc, father Cornelio Casabar Sr., stepfather Emilio Taroc, and sisters Dolores Redongo, Leonora Palma, Florence Casabar and Julia Stitt.
He is survived by wife Jennifer; sons Damon (Holly), Matthew (Janille), and Daniel; daughters Maile (Ray) Ae, Camille Casabar-Koholua, Tanya (Jon) George; brothers Lorenzo Sonny (Lisa) Casabar, Ben Taroc, Marcellino Silling (Evelyn) Taroc; sisters Betty Casabar, Katherine (Rudy) Samiano, Thelma (Stan) Tamagawa, Shirley Ann (Chris) Ramirez and Christine (Dustin) Broyard; aunt Julia (Kinney) Mihara; 11 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Service will be on Friday, Sept. 3, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in ‘Ewa Beach, officiated by son-in-law Bishop Raymond Ae.
