Abel Souza Sr.
Abel John Souza Sr. of Kapa‘a died July 30, 2010, at his home at age 65. Born on April 11, 1945, in O‘ahu, he was a retired foreman with Aina Site Construction.
He is survived by his wife Marlyn “Hoku” Souza of Kapa‘a; son Abel (Vanessa) Souza Jr.; daughters Michelle (Matt) Reis, Kimberly Souza and Brenda Souza all of Kapa‘a; stepsons Sonny (Lopeka) Kelekoma of Waianae and Shawn Kelekoma of Kapa‘a; stepdaughters Shantel “Telly” Kelekoma and Sharnal “Naka” Kelekoma of Kapa‘a; brother Bernard (Sally) Ancheta of California; sister Ramona (Jim) Yang of California; 24 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., service to follow, on Saturday, Aug. 28, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel. Burial at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens. Family suggests casual or aloha attire.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Takino Izuka
Takino Izuka of Hanapepe died July 16, 2010, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at age 102. Born on May 26, 1908, in Lihu‘e, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hideo Izuka.
She is survived by her sons Daniel (Charlotte) Izuka and Charles (Judy) Izuka both of Honolulu; daughters Akiko Tsukiyama of Hanapepe, Nancy Serikawa of Honolulu and Shirley Izuka of Hanapepe; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; brother Tadao Suemori of Kapa‘a; sisters Barbara Homberg of California and Namiko (Donald) Fukuda of Honolulu; nieces and nephews.
Services were private.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
