Ron Victorino had the Closest-to-Dial-in en route to topping the Diesel Truck Shootout, Saturday at the Kaua‘i Raceway Park in Mana.
Victorino piloted his 2005 Dodge Ram on a 0.170 light, running a 16.65 on a 16.60 dial-in to speeds of 75.06 mph to earn top honors over Jon Nakashima who drove his 2006 Dodge to a 0.174 light, running a 15.81 on a 15.57 dial-in and hitting 86.65 mph.
Manny Lawrence, getting the Lowest Reaction Time on a .001, topped the Top Gun class in his 1957 Thunderbird, leaving on a 0.553 light to run an 8.03 ET on a 7.09 dial-in and reaching 152.39 mph.
Dan Nanbu, getting the Top Gun Closest to Dial-In at 8.79 on an 8.71 dial-in, posted a 9.07 ET in his runner-up run, leaving in his Camaro Z28 on a 0.381 light to reach 150.69 mph.
Sheldon Costa topped the Pro ET class, getting the Pro ET Lowest RET at .011. To clinch the top spot, Costa drove his 1968 Camaro on a 0.157 light to run a 10.17 ET on a 10.05 dial-in, reaching 122.93 mph. Costa also pocketed the Pro ET Closest to Dial-in on a 10.057 run to his 10.050 dial-in.
Runner up in the class went to Dale Shumard who drove his 1968 Chevelle on a 0.336 light to run a 10.63 ET on a 10.49 dial-in, reaching 123.81 mph.
Walt Barnes, getting the Muscle Closest to Dial-in Award on a 12.104 ET on a 12.100 dial in, topped the Muscle V8 class after Isaac Carvalho, winner of the Muscle Lowest RT at .046, red lighted. Barnes drove his 2008 Mustang Shelby GT500 on a 0.261 light to run a 15.36 ET on his 12.10 dial in and reach 80.35 mph.
Robby Silva topped the Sport Compact class over Elena Kealoha, driving his 1991 Honda CRX on a 0.158 light to run a 12.37 ET on a 12.35 dial in to reach 107.72 mph. Kealoha, in her bid for the top, drove her 1956 VW Bug on a 0.097 light to run a 12.98 ET on a 12.90 dial in, reaching 101.85 mph. The .0.097 light earned Kealoha the lowest RT in the class.
Ricky Uemura got the Sport Compact Closest to Dial in on a 11.986 run on a 11.980 dial in.
Larry Palmeira topped the Bike class on his 2007 Kawasaki ZX 1400, leaving on a 0.21 light to run a 9.95 ET on a 9.93 dial in and hit 136.55 mph. Palmeira also earned the Bike Lowest RT at 0.004.
Mark Stiglmeier filled in the runner-up berth in the class on his 2005 Buell, leaving on a 0.022 light to run a 12.23 ET on an 11.91 dial in, reaching 106.6 mph. Stiglmeier also earned the Bike Closest to Dial In on an 11.919 run over his 11.910 dial in.
Ron Victorino topped the Street ET class in his 1988 Mustang, leaving on a 0.073 light to run a 14.32 ET on a 14.10 dial in to hit 82.92 mph.
Runner up honors went to Aaron Norris driving his 1985 Camaro on a 0.202 light to run a 15.25 ET on a 15.10 dial in and hitting 88.51 mph.
Jimmy Tamme copped the Street Lowest ET honor on a .029 reaction time and Ryan Stiglmeier earned Street Closest to Dial In on a 14.70 run to his 14.69 dial in.
Gabby Buist nailed down top honors in the Junior Dragster class on a 0.163 light to run a 7.94 ET on his 7.90 dial in, reaching 80.94 mph.
Second place honors went to Lawson Fernandes driving to a 0.198 light to run an 8.93 ET on a 8.68 dial in and reaching 72.82 mph.
Kalei Groves, earning lowest RT honors on a .064 light, filled in third place on an 8.68 ET, breaking out on her 8.74 dial in at 73.17 mph.
Jana Luis filled in fourth place on a 0.204 light to run an 11.27 ET, breaking out on a 11.4 dial in at 55.69 mph.
Nalu Barros got the Junior Closest to Dial in on a 9.091 ET on his 9.090 dial in. That honor also was the overall Closest to Dial In.
The Garden Island Racing Association hosts the next drag races on Sept. 4-5 at the Kaua‘i Raceway Park.
