Saturday’s National Scholastic Surfing Association meet at PK’s break was like a dream come true to Wyll Soll of Humboldt County, Calif.
Wyll’s dad Larry said they were at Pakala’s on Friday and ran into a surfer who told them about the NSSA meet.
“How can you beat that?” Larry asked. “Sitting at PK’s, waiting on a wave in a surf meet. That’s better than a dream come true.”
Larry said they’re here on vacation, celebrating his mom’s 80th birthday.
Hats off to Sybil Nishioka on another great Fun in Fellowship Dodgeball tournament! The action started Friday night and Nadine Nakamura said they didn’t have to play because they’re in the Senior Masters bracket.
She was able to check out the bon dance at Kapa‘a Hongwanji where Roy Nishida and Winston Kawamoto were the key people anchoring the church — bon dance towels at the country store, relocated inside the social hall, and did anyone see those humongous watermelons?
Janice Bond was waiting on her friends and Sandi Kato-Klutke had her entire ‘ohana in tow, once again. Saimin, anyone?
