Caplan is licensed as a Naturopathic Doctor in Hawai‘i and in Vermont, and has been practicing since 1995.
For 15 years she has been practicing natural family medicine and has been a primary care provider in the state of Vermont, and now Hawai‘i. Caplan also volunteers her services internationally in remote under-served areas. Caplan has had extensive practice in family medicine, gynecology, and natural childbirth.
Through a comprehensive evaluation of each person, Caplan utilizes both Western and Eastern medical diagnostic techniques. She understands that everyone has a unique set of circumstances, both internal and external, that impact his/her health; even thoughts and attitudes can profoundly affect one’s well being. With this view, she tailors treatment plans to support each individual, addressing underlying causes of disease and helping to restore the vital healing energy inherent in all.
She treats individuals of all ages and specializes in women’s health care. Caplan also specializes in food sensitivity identification.
She is a graduate of National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon, the nationally accredited and the oldest naturopathic medical college in the United States.
Caplan also studied Chinese medicine at the Oregon School of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon and is certified in Transformational Hypnotherapy from Heartwood Institute in California.
Caplan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Vermont.
She is the founder and medical director of Vermont Integrative Medicine (www.vermontintegrativemedicine.com), a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and the Vermont Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
Caplan also founded and directs the Gar Tibet Health Project and a health care project in a rural mountain community in Honduras.
