Almost 300 riders turned out for the Garden Island Moto Cross Hare and Hound and Poker Run, Sunday at the popular Oma‘o course.
Ron Victorino of Garden Island Motorsports, coordinator of the event, said the day was sunny and beautiful making for good riding conditions for the riders.
Phillip Pembrook, winning the “A” 0-250cc class in the Hare and Hound event, was named King of the Mountain during the awards ceremony where a special memorial service was held.
Kenny Honeycut, a trail rider who loved to ride Oma‘o, was remembered during the memorial service, Victorino said in an e-mail. Honeycut passed away just a few weeks before the big event.
Victorino said the popular event could not take place without the help and cooperation of the numerous volunteers and participants as well as the support and cooperation of the land owners including the Knudsen Trust, Hawaiian Mahogany and A&B Properties.
Makali‘i Andrade topped the “A” 251cc-plus class in the Hare and Hound event with Curtis Ritter topping the “A” Vet class.
Corey Sakai topped the “B” 0-200cc class with Travis Talbo taking the “B” 201-250cc class. Koa Fuller was at the top of the “B” 251cc-plus class and Thomas Martins Sr. headed the “B” Masters class. Keani Andrade commanded the “B” Wahine class.
Tony King topped the Adult “C” class in the Poker Run event with Nathan Bisarra heading the Keiki “C” class. Shelly Rodrigues topped the Wahine “C” class with Kainoa Simao heading the Youth “C” class.
Kiana Baptiste topped the Youth “D” class with Tanner Edmonds leading the top 12 riders in the Keiki “D” class. Jonathan Rivera was at the top of the Adult “D” class.
