Melvin Iwamoto Sr.
Melvin Tadao Iwamoto Sr. of Lihu‘e died July 14, 2010, at The Queen’s Medical Center at age 73. Born on Dec. 13, 1936, on Kaua‘i, he retired from Amfac, Inc. and Kano Trucking of Honolulu.
He is survived by his wife Linda Ka‘auwai-Iwamoto; sons Melvin (Lea) Iwamoto Jr. and Kyle Iwamoto; daughter Darrah (Hiwa) Makanui; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters Elaine (Blackie) Isoda and Laurette (Norman) Kamehiro; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation from 9 to 10:45 a.m., services at 11 a.m., on Monday, July 26, at Kapa‘a First Hawaiian Church. Cremation to follow.
Family requests that flowers be omitted.

Raymond Silva
Raymond Silva of Hanama‘ulu died July 19, 2010, at his home at age 78. Born on April 28, 1932, in Hanama‘ulu, he retired from Lihu‘e Plantation as a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alice Vidinha Silva; parents Frank and Virginia Silva; sister Gladys Routh; brother Jerry Silva; and great-grandson Kahoku O‘Mana O‘lo Silva.
He is survived by his daughter Wendy (Jason) Shimabukuro of Kapa‘a; sons Derek (Pua) Silva of Kapa‘a, Robby (Lana) Silva and Don Silva of Hanama‘ulu; brother Ronald (Janet) Silva; sisters Ida Porteous, Mary Jane Lake and Charolette Lum; grandchildren Alicia (Andrew) Lagundino, John (Shieryl) Silva, Justin (Marisa) Silva, Jaylynn, Jaysie and Jaynna Shimabukuro, Tiana (Gino) Silva, Robby (Nicole) Silva Jr., Shyann (Jonah) Silva, Aaron Naumo-Silva, Kawaikea Silva; great-grandchildren Ganen, Racen, Po‘okela, Kamanu, Kaiea, Cleonie, Salef; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, June 27, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 to 9 a.m., and Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Casual attire is suggested.

August Camara
August Jacintho Camara of Kalaheo died July 20, 2010, at his home at age 88. Born on Aug. 17, 1921, in Port Allen, he was a World War II veteran and a retired ranch foreman for Gay and Robinson Ranch.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Camara; brother Manuel Camara; brother-in-law John Lopez; son-in-law Calvin Roush Jr.; and one granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife Elisabeth Camara; daughters Birgit Roush-Landry and Brenda (Leonard) Carvalho; son Wayne (Valerie) Camara; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers Ernest (Katherine) Camara and Richard (Elizabeth) Camara of Wisconsin; sister Dorothy Lopez of Florida; sister-in-law Pearl Camara; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., Mass to follow, on Saturday, July 31, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Geraldine Kawamura
Geraldine Largo Kawamura of Waimea died July 20, 2010 at her home at age 62. Born on April 12, 1948, in Kahului, Maui, she was a general cashier with Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jesus and Bisitasion Largo; brother Napolean Jamero; sisters Judy Hanohano and Dolly Baybayan.
She is survived by her husband Wilfred “Miyuki” Kawamura; son Keenan Kawamura of Oakland, Calif.; hanai sons Vail Tompkins of Phoenix, Ariz., and Lloyd Palmeira of Kapa‘a; daughters Tammy (Sonny) Cacal of Lihu‘e, Kimberly (Darren) Cummings of Lihu‘e and Terri (Kendrick) Nemoto of Kahului; hanai daughters Robyn Bernaldes, Kristi (Michael) Rita of Kalaheo and Renae Wa‘alani of Lihu‘e; 33 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; father Rufo Radona of Lihu‘e; mother-in-law Koharu Kawamura of Waimea; brothers Joe (Ivy) Jamero of Pearl City, Rudy (Winnie) Largo of Ewa Beach, James (Rosaline) Largo of Kekaha, Chris (Rose) Largo of Makaweli, Gary (Lee) Largo of Waipahu and Les (Corrine) Largo of Puhi; and sister Amparo Abalos of Makaweli.
Visitation at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, July 31, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Casual attire is suggested.

Nell Stewart
Nell Greenwell Stewart of Lihu‘e passed away on July 20, 2010 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 89. Born on Nov. 11, 1920 in Port Arthur, Canada, she was a manager at Dayton’s Department Store.
Preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Donald R. Stewart Sr., grandson Joshua Stewart Des Marais, parents, siblings and many dear friends, she is survived by sons: Donald R. Stewart Jr. of Tulsa, Okla., Jack L. (Toni) Stewart of Salem, Ore; daughter Tory (Don) Stewart O’Malley of Kalaheo; grandchildren Laura Nell Stewart, Evan (Ana) Des Marais, Drew Des Marias, Chandra Des Marais; great-grandchild Luca Des Marais; special loved ones Helen Young of Yucca Valley, Calif.; the Brush family, Ontario, Canada; the Sallay family, Rancho Bernardo, Calif.; and many dear friends on Kaua‘i, in Southern California, Salem, Ore. and in Minnesota.
A private celebration of life is planned.
