Leonard Rita Jr.
Leonard Wayne Rita Jr. of Anahola died July 5, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 43. Born on Sept. 15, 1966, in Hawai‘i, he was a supervisor for construction.
He is survived by his wife Abilynn Rita; sons Luke Rita, Lanakila Rita, Wayne Rita and Leonard (Brittney) Rita III; daughter Kaprice Rita; step daughter Audrey Kuhaulua-Navor; one grandchild; father Leonard (Brenda) Rita Sr.; grandfather Jose Medeiros; brothers Antone Rita Jr., Wally (Connie) Rita and Daniel Rita; sisters Bernadette (August) Ventura, Patricia (Norman) Perreira, Debra Iwamoto and Victoria Rita; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation from 1 to 2:45 p.m., services at 3 p.m., on Saturday, July 17, at Kapa‘a First Hawaiian Church. Burial to follow at church cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Rose Vilela
Rose Elizabeth Vilela of Kapa‘a died June 7, 2010, in Aiea, O‘ahu. Born in Lihu‘e, she was a boat captain for Wailua River Excursions and Waialeale Boat Tours to the Fern Grotto.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia Souza; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial services are pending.

Augustine Navarro Jr.
Augustine Navarro Jr. of Lihu‘e died July 10, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 80. Born on June 15, 1930, in Hawai‘i, he was a retired chief at the Coral Reef Hotel.
He is survived by his wife Lorna Navarro of Lihu‘e, brother Christino Navarro and many friends.
Memorial services at 6 p.m., on Tuesday, July 20, at the Lihu‘e Neighborhood Center.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Otto “Bud” Powers
Otto Carroll “Bud” Powers of Kapa‘a died June 27, 2010, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Born on April 9, 1917, in Columbus, Ohio, he was a captain in the United States Army, served in World War II.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Powers, son Bill Powers, numerous friends and ‘ohana.
Visitation at 9 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Saturday, July 17, at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kapa‘a.
Casual attire is suggested and the family requests that flowers be omitted.
Steven Kaauwai
Steven Kalani Kaauwai of Lihu‘e died July 6, 2010, at Kaiser Hospital at age 58. Born on March 23, 1952, at Kapiolani Hospital, he was a shuttle bus driver with National Rental Car.
He is survived by his wife Gloria Kaauwai; parents John and Barbara Kaauwai; daughters Glenda (Joe) Ola of Las Vegas, Stephanie (Jeff) Escott of Connecticut, and Barbara Jean Kaauwai; sons Gerry (Tracy) Rayray of Boston, and Gavino (Tonya) Rayray of Puhi; grandchildren Cherelle, Kylie, Joey, Jerry Boy, Ashley, Autumn, Amelia, Cobie, Gevon, Hunter Thomas, Sean and Connor; brothers John (Charlott) Kaauwai of Hilo, and Duane Kaauwai of Anahola; sisters Cheryl (Tony) Wilson of Honolulu, Lana (Judy) Go of Kapa‘a, Lehua (Dane) Cougar of Honolulu, Kathy (Tim) Kaauwai of Anahola, and Lisa (Gary) Abel of Kapa‘a; numerous uncles, aunties, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., services at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, July 16, at Kapa‘a First Hawaiian Church. Cremation to follow.

Jean Beniamina
Jean Ileialoha Keale Beniamina of Lihu‘e died July 10, 2010, at her home, at age 54. Born on Aug. 5, 1955, in Puuwai, Ni‘ihau, she was an outreach counselor and assistant professor at Kaua‘i Community College.
She was preceded in death by her husband Larry.
She is survived by her daughters Kahealani (Jay) Niau Jr. of Ni‘ihau, Jeane (Iolama) Beniamina of Ni‘ihau and Lynnette (Kahua) Akeo of Kekaha; grandchildren Caylin Beniamina, JayJeen Beniamina, Janine Beniamina, Andria Beniamina, Lana Beniamina, Moana Niau, Jesse Beniamina, Keera Beniamina, Haweo Akeo, Heiva Akeo, Hoolu Akeo and Hahai Akeo; sisters Luana (Naumu) Kaohelaulii Sr. and Marylou (Wilson) Kanahele both of Ni‘ihau; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation from 10 a.m. to noon, service at noon, on Saturday, July 17, at Lawa‘i Garden Island Mortuary. Burial at Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery.
