Joseph Soares
Joseph “Uncle Joe” Alexander Soares of Kalaheo died July 6, 2010, at Queen’s Medical Center, O‘ahu, at age 89. Born on March 28, 1921, in Kalaheo, he worked with the National Weather Bureau Service and retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as chief of flight services.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Mary Soares, and brother Harry Soares.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Soares; sons Clifford (Anelyn) Soares, Calvin (Leona) Soares, Clement (Patti) Soares of Fort Collins, Colo., and Jared (Wanda) Soares of Fort Collins, Colo.; daughter Carmel (Scott) Soares of Tampa, Fla.; brother Manuel (Tove) Soares of Pearlridge, O‘ahu; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Casual attire is suggested.
Visitation at 9 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, July 13, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
